We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the audiobook production we sponsored, with the library now actively lending them out to users.

“A Spoonful of Poison : An Agatha Raisin Mystery”
(written by M.C. Beaton, translated by Shizuko Hata, Hara Shobo)

About Japan Braille Library

The Japan Braille Library is a private welfare facility founded in 1940 by Kazuo Honma, a blind man. The Japan Braille Library produces Braille books, audiobooks, and audio magazines by itself. The library sends these materials to individuals with visual impairments across Japan and internationally, lending them free of charge.

What is the One Book Present Campaign?

The One Book Present Campaign is an activity in which companies and individuals can donate to the Japan Braille Library to cover the cost of producing Braille books and audiobooks.

The number of printed books published in Japan in a year amounts to more than 80,000 titles*. On the other hand, Japan Braille Library holds just over 20,000 titles each of Braille books and audiobooks, which is not a small difference in reading environment. The Japan Braille Library strives to cultivate an inclusive environment that enhances reading opportunities for individuals with visual impairments. Their guiding principle is to produce a variety of books, aligning with their commitment to maximizing accessibility.

Harch aligns with the philosophy of the Japan Braille Library, aiming to bring the joy of reading, listening, and learning to individuals with visual impairments. As a gesture of support, we have decided to contribute to their cause through the UU Fund donation project, recognizing that even a small contribution can make a meaningful impact.

What is the UU Fund donation project?

The UU Fund is an initiative to donate 0.1 yen per UU (unique user) of our web media to NPOs. We started this project with the idea of creating a system where the more readers we have, the better the environment and society will become.

UU also means “you, the reader” and “you, the donation recipient.” With the mission of “Publishing a better future,” we will continue to play a role in realizing a better society as an information provider and practitioner.
