IDEAS FOR GOOD, a web media platform dedicated to gathering ideas for making society “better,” will open its seven-month exploration program, “Sustainable Experience Design Lab,” running from March to September 2025.
The world faces escalating environmental and social crises, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and conflicts over limited resources. We are at a crucial turning point in determining whether we can overcome these challenges.
While discussions and initiatives have been advancing in response to these issues, they have primarily focused on industrial systems, leaving significant gaps in addressing sustainability from the perspective of daily life and individual consumers.
Recognizing this imbalance, our company—through its media platforms, including IDEAS FOR GOOD, and sustainability consulting initiatives under IDEAS FOR GOOD Business Design Lab—has joined forces with Ecological Memes, a nonprofit organization exploring the evolving relationship between humans and nature. Together, we launched the Sustainable Experience Design Lab (SXD Lab) and began recruiting members for this exploration program.
About the exploration program
Over the course of seven months (March to September 2025), program participants will identify their areas of interest through lectures by experts from various fields. Divided into teams, they will conduct interview research and fieldwork to explore and prototype new possibilities for experience design. The program will culminate in an exhibition showcasing their exploration process and findings.
The recruitment process invited a diverse range of participants, including designers and engineers interested in individual and systemic transformation, business leaders, government officials, researchers, and individuals passionate about sustainability, regeneration, and green transformation (GX). It also welcomed those who are seeking new exploration methods and perspectives.
About Sustainable Experience Design Lab (SXD Lab)
SXD Lab is an initiative exploring the role of experience design in fostering sustainable and regenerative societies by driving transformation at the individual and community levels.
As sustainability efforts must extend beyond industrial systems to daily life, UX and experience design can play a key role in shaping this transition. SXD Lab examines:
- How experience design can facilitate the transition from rigid “provider-consumer” and “creator-user” relationships to more holistic and transformative ways of living and acting.
- The potential for UX to drive behavioral change and new values in sustainability and regeneration.
Through collaboration with professionals across public, private, academic, and civic sectors, the lab seeks to redefine experience design’s role in sustainability and regenerative practices.
Program date: March 5 – September 20, 2025
