IDEAS FOR GOOD, a web media that collects ideas for making society better, held an online event “Let’s talk about ‘plastic’ over coffee – Seminar reflection and Q&A session” on February 8, 2024, jointly with Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. and Members Co..
IDEAS FOR GOOD has been co-hosting online seminars related to plastics with Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. and Members Co. with the aim of realizing regenerative lifestyles by “changing the world from the ground up” through biomass and recycling solutions. We have held two sessions in November and December 2023.
Part 1
- Event Details: Exploring alternatives to “plastic-free” for a carbon-neutral society with European case studies (in Japanese)
- Event Report: [Seminar Report] Exploring alternatives to “plastic-free” for a carbon-neutral society with European case studies (in Japanese)
Part 2
- Event Details: Global trends in plastic regulations: Corporate behavior and consumer needs for plastic-free society (in Japanese)
- Event Report: [Seminar Report] Global trends in plastic regulations: Corporate behavior and consumer needs for plastic-free society (in Japanese)
The two events followed the explanation of biomass plastics required for a carbon-neutral society, the latest adoption of biomass plastics in Europe and the situation surrounding plastics, and trends in plastics regulations around the world.
The seminar was attended by a very large number of people on the day of the seminar, with 1,000 people registering for both sessions, which were set as the maximum number of participants. In each session of the seminar, several experts and specialists actively exchanged opinions on the future of plastics, and we received many questions from the participants.
Due to time constraints, we were only able to answer some of the questions on the day of the seminar, so this time we held a casual talk session with the seminar speakers to review the past two seminars and answer your questions. This was a useful event for those who have attended previous seminars as well as for those who were attending for the first time.
We addressed a range of questions covering topics such as the latest initiatives in biomass plastics, advanced cases and societal trends of plastic de-pollution and reform, and the necessary communication strategies with consumers to deliver sustainable value.
This time, we delivered a casual talk in a café setting, discussing the future of plastics.
