IDEAS FOR GOOD, a web media that collects ideas for making society better, has launched the “Sport for Good” series in collaboration with Sport For Smile, a general incorporated association.
Background of the “Sport for Good” feature
“Elite Program” is a new program launched by Sport For Smile’s Sport For Smile Planet League (SFSPL), a community to act in solidarity with the world on climate change issues. The program is designed to support the “Sports for Climate Action Framework,” which was launched at COP24 in collaboration with the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and the IOC (International Olympic Committee). The objective is to provide intensive support to the sustainability front-runners in Japanese sports and embody best practices by targeting clubs in the first division of professional leagues, which are expected by the UN to have the greatest “power of sports” and influence on fans, for signing the Framework.
We operate IDEAS FOR GOOD, a magazine of ideas to make society better and deliver articles on advanced social good initiatives from around the world by leveraging our network of overseas expertise. As a media partner of the Elite Program, we are launching the “Sport for Good” series, a special feature reporting on advanced initiatives in the world of sports and the activities of clubs participating in the program. The articles in the monthly series will be covered together with the company’s European and U.S. branches and affiliated writers, thus minimizing CO2 emissions.
The first article, “To protect the environment in which we can compete. The start of a special feature on the climate crisis from the world of sports. [Sport for Good #0] (*),” will cover Sport For Smile Planet League. Following the first volume, we will continue to introduce the world’s most advanced cases, such as Wimbledon, as well as activities of organizations participating in the Elite Program.
