Circular Yokohama, a platform promoting a circular economy in Yokohama, and Life Hugger, a web magazine that celebrates sustainable living, will co-host a one-day workshop titled “Create your own zero-waste wreath using fabric scraps” on October 12.
The theme of this event is “zero waste = a lifestyle without throwing things away.”
Why not transform your favorite fabric scraps and old cloth into a stylish wreath?
Zero waste is a lifestyle approach focused on generating no waste. While recycling deals with how to reuse waste that has already been created, zero waste encourages us to rethink our daily habits to minimize waste production from the start.
One practical idea for living a zero-waste lifestyle is reusing old clothes and fabric.
For example:
✓ A favorite handkerchief or bandana that has a stain
✓ Stylish patterned fabric scraps but too small to reuse normally
Do you have items like these tucked away at the back of your drawers? If so, bring them to the workshop and transform them into a “zero-waste wreath!”

Create your own using colorful fabric scraps
Just cut old fabric into squares about 3–5 cm and insert them into a wreath frame — that’s it!
This workshop is enjoyable for everyone, from children to seniors. It’s also a great way to use ribbon-like scraps that often accumulate during sewing projects.
Idea talk: how can we enjoy a waste-free life?
When you hear “eco-friendly living,” it might sound like something that requires sacrifice or hardship. But today, there are countless ideas for practicing sustainability in fun and engaging ways.
What kind of lifestyle emerges when we combine Circular Yokohama’s message of “Playful Circularity” and Life Hugger’s message of “enjoy a waste-free life?”
Let’s explore this together while making wreaths!
Families and children are welcome
We welcome participation from parents, children, and even solo participants, regardless of gender. The wreaths made at the workshop can be enjoyed year-round as beautiful decorations.
We will also provide coffee at the venue, creating a cozy, café-like atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy the workshop and discussions.
