Circular Yokohama, a platform promotes the circular economy in Yokohama, has been recognized with the superior rank in the 13th round of Yokohama City’s SDGs certification program, “Y-SDGs” (in Japanese).
Y-SDGs is a certification system in which Yokohama City acknowledges businesses actively contributing to achieving the SDGs. The program aims to encourage transitions to sustainable management and operations, foster new customer and business opportunities, and support investment and financing decisions by investors and financial institutions, including ESG investment initiatives.
Previously, Circular Yokohama was certified at the standard rank as part of the second round in 2021. With this update, we have advanced to the superior rank, a designation for businesses demonstrating higher levels of engagement. Y-SDGs certification evaluates businesses across four categories: society, governance, environment, and community. Our initiatives under Circular Yokohama, including active efforts to address regional challenges and conducting outreach classes at local schools, were particularly recognized in the “community” category.
Circular Yokohama will continue to promote initiatives and disseminate information to support Yokohama City’s sustainable development.
